How to Meditate: Best Practices for beginners
What are the best practices for meditation and how it can help you cultivate a deeper sense of peace and clarity?
Meditation is a powerful tool that can help you reduce stress, improve focus, and connect with your inner world. So, let's take a deep dive into the world of meditation and explore some best practices!
First, find a quiet and comfortable space where you won't be disturbed. This can be a corner of your room, your car (if you’re not driving of course!), or any other place where you feel at ease. Make sure that it's a space where you can relax and focus.
Next, choose a meditation technique that resonates with you. There are countless different types of meditation, such as mindfulness, loving-kindness, and visualization.
Experiment with different techniques and find one that feels authentic to you. When you’re just getting started going through guided meditations are the mpst helpful, you can access out favorite through Beyond Breath library!
Now you’re ready to meditate.
Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight and your hands resting on your lap, you can also try laying down if that’s more your vibe, but if you’re someone who falls asleep easily I would skip laying down. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to relax your body and mind.
As you begin your meditation practice focus on your breath and observe your thoughts without judgment. When your mind wanders, gently bring your attention back to your breath. Remember, meditation is a practice, and it's natural for your mind to wander. Be patient with yourself and keep coming back to your breath.
Once you feel a sense of connection, you can invite your higher-self, God/Universe/Source, or any of your guides to come in and give you any messages, or ask them any questions that you would like their guidance on.
If you’ve never connected with your guides, but would like to, I’d recommend this meditation from Gabby Bernstein.
Finally, end your meditation with gratitude and intention.
Take a few deep breaths and express gratitude for the present moment and for yourself. Set an intention for the day ahead and visualize yourself achieving your goals with ease and grace.
Remember, don’t stress or over-think it! There’s no right or wrong way to meditate, you can’t mess it up. Even one minute of consistent meditation can make a difference, you’ve got this sis!
